Sunshine on my face

Walking in the park today, it is a warm, sunny, winter afternoon. A winter that feels more like spring. The snow at my feet is melting, the sun casting a shine so deep and so warm, causing the slush to pool around foot prints, the concrete is wet and glistening. The sunshine on my face is so welcoming on a day like today when I feel the pencil on my page won’t move across the paper fast enough. A walk may slow me down, as I start to move faster.

I love,  that in January, I can sit on a park bench and the sun is warm enough to allow me to write without gloves on. It’s a beautiful thing. I wish I brought my camera, to capture the sun, bright in its glory, with no clouds hovering; it is just all on its own. Of course I have my cell phone, but have no idea the picture quality. Well, the truth is, I don't know how to get the pictures from my phone, onto my computer!
I can feel the heat, on the side of my face, on the curve of my neck, and I can close my eyes and see the bright white, and wait for that to change color, to a color I choose in my mind. When I open my eyes again, and look at my writing book, I realize, man this is shabby! I need to make myself a new one. So when I am done with my walk, with my little moment of peace in the park, I make my way home, to pick out some supplies!

In the end, I re covered a book that I was already writing in, I am not ready for a new one of these, and for a new journey I will embark on, I made another. A day that started out rotten can end well.

Today when Haley got home, wow, girlfriend was feeling all domestic I tell you! She had her snack, watched 15 minutes of TV and then said she didn’t want to watch the TV. Suddenly she started with a floodgate of ideas. First she told me about a cupcake club idea that she got from a book that I bought her for Christmas. She wants to start a club, bake cupcakes and sell them in the summer to make some extra money. She wants to sell them on the street like when she has a lemonade stand. I tell her it’s not such a great idea, and together we come up with a plan that she can use a portion of my table at my summer market. How can I do anything but think this is fabulous. The girl has an entrepreneurial spirit already!

The next think I know, she is in her kid’s cookbook, wanting to make an appetizer or a dessert. She settled on dessert, and made her own vanilla pudding (from a box) and when she served it, it was layered with bananas and coconut!

While I was cooking dinner, she cleaned off the dining room table, put out the place mats, made name tags for the table, set a candle in the middle. When I walked away from my dinner prep, and came back into the kitchen, she was cleaning up my mess. I took one look at her, and in that instant, I got the same feeling as I did earlier that day, closing my eyes, letting the sunshine warm my face and my neck. Now I know that some may not see the beauty in this, but with whatever Haley may be missing in smarts with having to live with a learning disability, she makes up for in compassion, love, and kindness. Some may not see it every day, but I sure do. I love that girl! I guess that is why since she was a baby, I call her My Sunshine!

Have a good week everyone, thanks for stopping by!

New Year, New Journals

Welcome 2012! I hope you are a good year!

One of the things I love making, is journals. I like to journal, I like to have different books that I write in, be it personal essays, notes to self, lists, blog post ideas, writing assignments, anything. I have many books that I keep all over the house, in my van, in my bags, in my drawers, in almost every room in the house.

In the past, when I have made journals, I tried to make them, thinking of others. I wondered what young girls would like, women, students, even seniors. Sometimes I get it right. Sometimes I don't.

In the last few days, I took some of the pretty paper that I bought in Kelowna at the Ever After Scrapbooking store, and I let it speak to me! My hairdresser and I do that! When she asks me what I want done with my hair, I tell her I trust her and she just says she will let my hair speak to her. I think this is the best way to be creative!

So, I created - letting my paper speak to me. I think that I am just going to make journals that I love, that I would enjoy writing in, and I will trust that people will like them and want to buy them. These are some that I have made so far, let me know what you think!

With this fresh start to a brand new year, I plan on creating many things! As always, they will be my own ideas, not copied, and only created by me! Stay tuned and check in often, because I also hope that I will post more often. I am going to try to make this an achievable goal, but with two blogs, it is hard to keep up!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, a fun New Year, and I wish you lots of love, fun, and creative energy for the year 2012!

Thanks for stopping by!

Blogger, did you fail me?

I am not sure what happened with  my last post, but I noticed that Blogger only published a portion of my post! I downloaded more than the mere 3 or 4 pictures that you saw, that is for sure!

So, what I wanted to share with you, was some of my latest journals...

Some fun cards.....

Some crafty treasures from my trip to the USA! I can't believe some of the great prices I got on some of these things...

I know that I said so much more in my post that somehow seems to have gone missing. Forgive me, I have been very busy and very tired, but I will be back soon with some more!

If you see anything here that you would like to buy, please let me know, before it is all gobbled up at my next sale!

Happy Day, thanks for taking the time to check in!

Inspiration in June

Well hello there June 1st! It is nice to see that you brought the sunshine with you. It has been cool and dreary and we have missed you these past few days!

I wanted to share some summer fun and show you the pages I worked on for May/June and BBQ season. The end of May was so beautiful and I don't know about you, but we did enjoy some nice BBQ's here at my place! These pages were inspired from that! Check them out!

This is using my Creative Memories Cheerful Summer paper. I just love the Cheerful paper, it is just as the name suggests! You can also check out some other Cheerful paper on my website here.

I have also made a few new journals with some lovely paper. One has already sold, but I really liked the way they turned out.

Today being June 1st, I also planted most of my garden. I always wait until after the May long weekend, and I am glad that I waited this year again. It was also my first day back at my summer job. My summer job is tending to the yard of a young professional couple, Jenny Lynn and Jay. They have a great yard with so many different areas to grow flowers, it's wonderful. But yikes did I have my work cut our for me there today. They also want me to remove their strawberry patch, which will be a big job. I am looking forward to seeing it all done and all of the flowers that are overgrown trans planted to other areas of the yard.

Looking at my journals and thinking of all the plans I have for their yard, reminds me that I really should make a gardening journal for myself! I also need to REALLY get busy in my own yard. Hopefully it will be sunny skies this weekend for doing just that!

These are the baby Robin's that were born in their nest in my garage LAST week.....

This is a picture of them THIS week! I cannot believe in one week how much they have grown.....

The pictures of this week are a little fuzzy because I was scared that the momma bird would come and peck my head off and I am a little freaked out by birds!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Thanks for stopping by.
